# First steps (before starting the semester):
- Finalize your enrollment
- Setup your study plan on infostud and submit it for approval
- Infostud already contains a certain number of constraints and automatic rules. However, not all study plan setups on INFOSTUD are automatically approved. 
- Make sure that the course/exam you intend to attend/take can fit in an approvable study plan
- You cannot record exams without an approved study plan
- Consult the M.Sc. program chair during regular office hour in order to verify possible extra degrees of freedom

It happens frequently that students are not able to undertake the above list of steps before the semester starts. In that case it is highly recommended to consult the M.Sc. program chair during regular office hour in order to verify in advance your study plan can be approved.

# Study plan: basics #01

* The study plan contains all the teaching units (courses, laboratories, other educational activities, final exam) which contribute to total 120 credits. There are some degrees of freedom in selecting units.

* Students have to conclude the enrollment in order to be allowed to submit a proposal for their study plan.

* Once enrolled, students can submit their study plan (*percorso formativo*) through the INFOSTUD system. [.fn[1]]

* The submitted study plan can be accepted or rejected by the the M.Sc. program chair depending on the circumstances. For this reason it is important get your study plan approved before starting to attend classes.

* Students are allowed to attend classes before the enrollment is completed or before the study plan is approved BUT it is important to verify the suitability for approval of your plan with the M.Sc. program chair during regular office hour.

* If needed you **can** change the approved study plan. It is warmly recommended **not to change it multiple times** during a semester.

* You need to setup a study plan with a total of either 120 ECTS or 123 ECTS. In fact, you can also add 3 extra ECTS with your free-choice section. In any case the INFOSTUD system will check all formal constraints.

* AAF are exam units with no grade: only pass/no pass. Some of them are labs, others have a specific title. **AAF1965** and **AAF1809** are generic containers. For more info please consult [sma.dss.uniroma1](http://sma.dss.uniroma1.it/aaf-exam-units)

Students are warmly encouraged to regularly attend classes and sit exams so that their M.Sc. carrier can be concluded within the expected time frame of 4 semesters i.e. 2 academic years.

The expected amount of credits for 2 semesters is 60. A minimal amount of credits of 57 ECTS at the end of the first 2 semesters is a necessary requirement to be eligible for the Student Honor Program.

A minimal amount of credits of 40 ECTS is a necessary requirement to be eligible for internships.

Accessing the final graduation session within the first two academic years will be awarded with an extra point in the starting base grade.
